This Mother’s Day, my heart is grateful as I look at my three girls. Raising them is one of the greatest joys and most important callings God has given me. This letter is from my heart to theirs. A mother’s blessing, my prayers, and the things I long for them to remember always.

My dearest girls,

Today, on Mother’s Day, my heart feels so full I needed to write this down for you. One day, when you’re older and perhaps come across this letter, I want you to hear my voice in these words and know how deeply you have always been loved.

I still remember the night four years ago when we began something simple that has quietly become the most treasured part of my days with you. I was feeling the pull of busy evenings and tired hearts, and I sensed the Lord inviting us to protect a little pocket of time together. So we started gathering in our bed each night for about forty-five minutes. What began as a gentle new rhythm has now become our faithful routine for four straight years.

Every evening we open the Bible together. We read, we talk about what we’re learning, and we pray — one by one, and each week we choose a particular friend or person to lift up to the Lord. Then we finish by singing a hymn, sometimes a little off-key and always with sleepy smiles. There are nights I’m exhausted and the temptation to say “straight to bed” is strong, but I choose this instead. These moments have become the single biggest investment of my time with you three, and they are the ones I hold most dear.

I love watching you grow into your own beautiful, unique selves. I wonder what dreams and stories the Lord is writing for each of you. But more than anything, my prayer is that no matter where life takes you, you will always remember this: when things feel hard or uncertain, come back to one another, open God’s Word, pray, and talk about what He is saying. Because His grace really is sufficient, and His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I smile every time I think of your excited faces at the Mother’s Day stall, choosing little gifts for me with such care. Those moments are sweet, and I treasure them. Yet the greatest gift was given to me long ago — the honour of following Jesus and raising you in His love. You are not projects I need to perfect; you are arrows in the quiver, fearfully and wonderfully made. One day I will release you into the Father’s hands for the Kingdom work He has prepared for you.

I love you each so much — with all your laughter, your questions, your uniqueness, and even your messy bedrooms. I praise God for who you are right now and for all you will become.

To God be the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

With all my love, Mum
